What do dental assistants do?
Updated: Apr 15, 2021
Dental Assistants play a very important role in a patient's visit to the Dentist. They are flexible, quick on their feet, and help the rest of the dental office staff in a number of ways. But what exactly do they do? Dental assistants perform a wide range of daily tasks, including:
Taking X-Rays and impressions
Giving pre-op and post-op instructions
Providing patient care
Going over medical history
Preparing patients and the work area for treatments and procedures
Sterilizing instruments
Assisting the Dentist in treatments
Most people don't realize just how important Dental Assistants are to the flow of a dental office, but they are one of the most important assets! The dental office would not be able to function without the hard work and care of dental assistants.
